I didn't build my retirement through a 401k. I built it through real estate. For over 30 years, I invested in Maryland and Florida โ buying rental properties, focusing on cash flow, and following simple rules that worked.
Real estate gave me freedom. It replaced my income. It became my retirement. In Maryland and Florida, I watched returns shrink โ rising costs, tighter regulations, restrictions on rentals. So I looked elsewhere.
Today, I live in Costa Rica full-time. I was able to buy on or closer to the water for less money, generate year-round rental income โ and still hit the return targets I've used for decades.
